2007 Clos de Ste Anne Pinot Noir Magnum 1.5L

"The scents are pure pinot - sweet and floral. The palate offers red and black berry fruit flavours, zesty acids and sweet earthy hints. Delicate and fine yet also firm and grounded. A pinot of real class. The Millton's have re-drawn New Zealand's Pinot Noir map." John Saker, March 2007

"Single-vineyard red from Millton, hill-grown in Gisborne.  Richly varietal, with strawberry and spice flavours, showing excellent depth and complexity, ripe, supple tannins and a fragrant, welcoming bouquet”.  4 Stars - Michael Cooper, Winestate, March 2009

I look to the old world for inspiration with Pinot Noir. I don’t want a big fruit bomb nor a dark wine with blocky oak tannin. I want delicacy and a subtle memory that is balanced with fine aromatic foods of flavour. Delicately ruby-hued, soft aromas of violets with subtle notes of forest floor. The complexities unfold with the intensity of the palate, rich cherries; red berries simmered with orange zest. Juicy & sumptuous yet refined & elegant, a vibrant palate seamed with firm tannins that beg for ageing. Fined with free-range egg whites from estate hens.
Magnums are available as single bottles. Due to the slower ageing of wine in magnums this wine should cellar well for up to 10 years. It is drinking superbly at present. A fabulous gift for the Pinot Noir connoisseur.
