The Millton Vineyard

The Millton Vineyard specialises in making fine Biodynamic wine from estate grown grapes sourced from single vineyards. For more than a quarter of century these grapes have been grown in the traditional manner using biodynamic techniques. This involves growing the grapes without the use of herbicide, insecticide, systemic fungicides or soluble fertilisers. It also incorporates the use of special herbal preparations and teas, as well as a deep understanding of the complex cosmic rhythms which affect these daily activities. As well these wines carry the certified organic trademark BioGro, as well as the grower ID number on the back label. In 2009 our vineyards were certified biodynamic by Demeter New Zealand. Both organisations have exacting standards which are audited to international level and meet the stringent requirements needed to participate in these specialised markets. All wines are Produced and Bottled on the Property.

2011 Sparkling Muskats @ Dawn

In 2011 we have embraced another traditional treasure, taking inspiration from the Moscato d'Asti of Italy. The gentle sparkle delights the senses with tropical fruit and the first blossoms of spring as we step from antiquity into the modern era... The quintessential summer wine just to drink and reflect.

2011 Merlot Rose Te Arai Vineyard

A soft, sensual summer sipper to enjoy while we sit and wonder. There are fresh strawberry & raspberry characters with a dash of spice on the nose. Aromas to enliven your senses.

2011 Merlot Rose Te Arai Vineyard Magumun 1.5L

A soft, sensual summer sipper to enjoy while we sit and wonder. There are fresh strawberry & raspberry characters with a dash of spice on the nose. Aromas to enliven your senses.

2011 Opou Riesling

Powerful and yet delicate, the minerality of the palate forming the basis as the waves of flavour & fresh acidity orchestrate their union and with a food friendly phenolic baseline. Perfectly balanced and incredibly more-ish.

2010 Riverpoint Gewürztraminer

This is a full flavoured powerfully scented Gewürztraminer with deep spice layered texture, a hint of acidity and haunting tranquil savoury pucker.

2010 Riverpoint Viognier

"Some viognier can be quite overwhelming but this trophy-winning wine, while not short on flavour shows restraint and subtlety. Very elegant indeed."
5 STARS, Jane Skilton

2010 Clos Samuel Viognier Special Bunch Selection 375ml

5 Stars, Bob Campbell

"Very sweet wine with honeysuckle, vanilla, honey and wild flower flavours. Nicely balanced with a smooth texture and lengthy finish. Very impressive."

2010 Opou Chardonnay

This wine has a ‘completeness’. It is well gathered and has harmony across the overall taste. There is an air of antiquity in this style. The bush honey and plush marzipan characters reflect ripe grapes from clay soils.

2009 Les Trois Enfants SOLD OUT

  • Certified Organic
  • Price: $25.00
Fondly known as 'The Three Kids', this wine displays spice, ginger, and pear, waxy broad opulence with tremendous fruit weight and a rich aftertaste. A complete intoxication of a serious affliction.

2009 Te Arai Chenin Blanc

With luminescent golden hue, and aromas of fresh lime zest and fragrant gardenias, the 2009 is a rich, pure and elegant vintage. Subtle notes of orange blossom and bees wax, with evocative aromas of brûléed pears, allude to the delicacy of the wine.

Mistelle Fortified July Muscat 750ml

A wine for all the senses… made from several clones of the old & exotic grape variety, Muscat, intensely aromatic, deliciously sweet, semi-fortified and aged over several seasons, this solera has the makings of a wine of seduction, quite addictive, quite charming, quite simply, delicious.

2005 Essencia Chardonnay Opou Vineyard 375ml

Only in a very good harvest does nature allow us to make an interesting sweet wine. Golden hued, with aromas of honey, raisins and apricots and a smoky wood character coming through from the time spent in special casks. Made in a style to keep for cellaring and will intensify in colour and depth of flavour as it gains maturity. In it's youth enjoy with fresh fruits or dried apricots and nuts. After one year it will be excellent with an apricot tart. And after a year or two a ripe blue cheese will make a delicious accompaniment. Divine.

2007 Opou Chardonnay Magnum 1.5L

4 ½ stars ~ Michael Cooper, ‘Winestate’ May/June 2009
“A top vintage, this organically certified wine is rich, dry and complex, with peachy, nutty, slightly buttery flavours and a hint of butterscotch. Refined and slightly minerally, it’s a fine-value wine, drinking well now.”
